Temporary Activity Sponsorship Overview
Becoming a Temporary Activity Sponsor (βTASβ) is the first step required for a business to be able to sponsor staff on a Subclass 407 Training Visa. It can also be used to sponsor workers in some streams of the Subclass 408 and 403 visas. The TAS approval status will remain in place for 5 years from date of approval.
Becoming a TAS comes with as range of obligations placed on the business, with the aim of safeguarding the integrity of the sponsorship system. Some of the obligations involved are:
Cooperating with inspectors
Keeping records to show sponsored workers are performing tasks as claimed in the application
Notifying the Department of Home Affairs when certain events occur. For example, changes to the structure of the business or sponsored workers no longer doing what they were sponsored to do
