Overview
The Subclass 491 Visa is a ‘provisional’ visa, meaning it is not permanent, but provides a pathway to permanent residency.
Subclass 491 Visa holders must live and work only in a designated regional area for 3 years from the date of their Subclass 491 Visa grant to be eligible for the permanent Subclass 191 Visa.
There are 3 basic steps:
Skills Assessment and English test
Expression of Interest (EOI) and state nomination application
Visa application
Applicants must also ensure they have an eligible occupation on the relevant occupation list and have enough points on the ‘points test’.
It is important that applicants plan ahead if intending to apply for a subclass 190 visa. Processing times for skills assessments, state nomination and visa processing can be lengthy.
If you are considering whether this is the correct migration pathway for you, or would like clarification on the process, please contact us.
